Title: “The Rotunda”
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Story: As the signature landmark of the University of Virginia, the Rotunda was designed by Thomas Jefferson and modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. The Lawn is essentially a beautiful outdoor room flanked by dwellings with the Rotunda as the north termination. This space is the heart of campus and conveys the Jeffersonian idea of the “Academical Village”.
